Two Things You Need: The Spirit and Love

My First Full Week as a Hermana Missionary

Hola Amigos!

Life has been so awesome at the MTC! I've met so many cool people, and the new buildings are so cool! They have two murals on every floor of scenes from the scriptures. They are lit from behind so the fire, sunllight, stars, and lightning all look super life like even though it is just a picture. I think two of my favorites are one of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea and one of Paul on the road to Damascus. The murals are right next to the stairs on every floor, and we have class on the 5th floor so it makes taking the stairs more worth it. We finished teaching our first investigator this week. Her name was Tamara, she was from Santiago and did not believe in God. It was very difficult to teach her in part because our knowledge of Spanish is so small, but also because we could not figure out how to get her to open up to us. As we taught, we learned that there are two things you need in any lesson: the Spirit, and love. If you have both of them, even if you cannot communicate super well,  they will know that you care and Heavenly father cares about them and wants them to have something better.
I got a chance to see a lot of people that I went to school with the past two semesters. It was so cool to see how so many people from the same ward, and even just the same hall were able to be here serving the Lord at the same time, even though we are all going to different places around the globe.
I will be leaving to the Santiago MTC soon, I am a little sad because I will miss all of the people I have met here, but I am excited to see what else the Lord has in store for me.

Les quiero!
Hermana Torgersen
