That Is One Thing I Love About This Gospel
This week has been crazy and this upcoming week is going to be even crazier because it is the week of 18, fiestas patrias de Chile (National Holiday of Chile). The wards in our chuch building had a fiesta this Saturday with empanadas, y choripan (basically a chorizo sausage inside bread, kinda like a hot dog) with pebre which is really simillar to pico de gallo y mayonesa. There was also a lot of cueca which is the traditional dance of chile. Everyone here knows how to dance cueca and one day I am going to buy a vestido de cueca and learn how to dance cueca, but after the mission. ;) We ate almuerzo (lunch) with a family that made a buch of traditional foods from chile. They made me memorize the names of everything I ate. One thing that is super delicious is mote con huesecillo. Its is a kind of drink that tastes like molasses. But it also has husked wheat and whole dried peaches in it.
It was super nice to have pday the 18th because we get to celebrate it a little more. Today as a district we went to the center of iquique where there was a big festival for 18. We played games and ate asado (barbeque) which was super delicious. Later we walked along the docks and found some giant sea lions just sun bathing. I guess that's a pretty good way to celebrate the holiday.
This week we have been teaching and focusing a lot on Felipe. He is super amazing, and even though we have only been teaching him for a week, he is ready to be baptized. We are hoping he can be baptized this upcoming Saturday, and are super excited for him. Before he even had his baptisimal interview, he told us "Yes, I want to follow this religion. I have a lot of faith in God and Jesus Christ." Along with Felipe we have so many people who have baptisimal dates for the next upcoming weeks. We are so excited that so many people want to have the peace this gospel brings in their lives. That is one thing I love about this gospel, I dont know anyone who's life is not better with this gospel, and if everyone realizes it's simple teachings: faith, repentence, baptism, the holy ghost, and enduring to the end, we have no need to worry about anything, in this life, or the next.
